Hector Bellerin and Dele Alli go head-to-head in another shooting challenge

Dele Alli beat Hector Bellerin first time around

Thought Hector Bellerin’s first head-to-head competition with Dele Alli was good? Well today’s your lucky day.
The pair recently took part in a five shot challenge with Copa 90, with Alli coming out on top.
Eager to get revenge on his Tottenham foe, Bellerin reunited with Alli for another battle - one that was inspired by the Call of Duty video game.
It’s not as crazy as it sounds. Bellerin and Alli aren’t running around a battlefield in some fierce warfare.
Instead, they’re striking footballs that are dropped from a drone, attempting to hit one of three targets in the net.

FORGET EUROPE, ARSENAL WILL BE TOUGHEST TEST FOR TOTTENHAM SO FAR THIS SEASON

Red hot: Giroud scored a hat-trick for Arsenal in midweek

Tottenham’s Premier League clash against Arsenal on Sunday could prove to be Spurs’ toughest test of the season so far as they take their unbeaten record to the Emirates.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side face Bayer Leverkusen in their latest Champions League fixture on Wednesday evening but, while it’s an important game, they will need to have one eye on their clash against Arsenal just four days later.

Tottenham were knocked out of the Premier League’s top four on Sunday afternoon when Chelsea recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory over West Ham.

Spurs are in danger of slipping even further behind if they don’t record a victory against Arsenal and that should be their main priority despite having to contend with a tough European tie.

Tottenham’s inability to break down Leicester’s defence meant they had to settle for their fourth draw in five games while Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea all progressed with three points.
This weekend’s game against Arsenal is not only a chance to take home the bragging rights in the local north London derby, but it could signify whether Spurs have what it takes to win the league.
They have a good record against their rivals and haven’t lost in the Premier League to them since Pochettino took over as manager.

However, Arsenal are currently in the better form and could put space between the two sides with a home win.

Gunners fans will be keeping an eye on the news this week as Harry Kane is rumoured to be back in contention for the game, and Spurs’ talisman could be the difference-maker if he’s fit to start.
Arsenal also have a European tie this week but after netting six past Ludogorets in their last head-to-head, they will probably rest some of their stars ahead of the weekend’s fixture.

Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud and Granit Xhaka have also returned for the Gunners, prompting even more threat in front of goal for Tottenham’s defence to deal with.

ISIS 'HOURS' from defeat in Iraq as brave troops enter city of Mosul for first time

Iraqi troops entered the Karama district of the Islamic State stronghold of Mosul on Monday

A senior commander in the the anti-ISIS coalition said his elite unit were "hundreds of metres" from Mosul proper and could reach the prized city within "hours".
Government soldiers entered the district of Karama - their first advance into Iraq's second city after two weeks of fighting.
Progress in the battle for Iraq's second largest city came more easily than predicted in the first days of the offensive.
But since then, ISIS militants have increased their counter-attacks and the advances of coalition forces slowed.
However, in a major breakthrough on Monday, General Wissam Araji, of Iraq's US-trained Counter Terrorism Service (CTS), confirmed his troops had finally entered Mosul.
He said: "They have entered Mosul. They are fighting now in Hay (disrict) al-Karama."
Iraqi security forces and Kurdish Peshmerga fighters started the offensive on Iraq's second city on October 17.
The battle for Mosul, still home to more than a million residents, is shaping up to be the toughest in a decade of fighting since the toppling of Saddam Hussein in 2003.
CTS fighters were reported to be moving in on Gogjali, an industrial zone on Mosul's eastern outskirts, and could enter it later today.
The zone lies less than a mile from the administrative border of Mosul.
A military statement said: "The operation to liberate the left bank of Mosul has started."
Militia groups joined the fighting on Saturday in a bid to seize the main transit route between Mosul and Raqqa, ISIS' main stronghold in Syria.
The forces target is the town of Tal Afar, 35 miles west of Mosul, which would cut off any chance of the jihadis retreating to their positions in neighbouring Syria.
Iraqi troops and Kurdish peshmerga fighters are already driving Islamic State fighters back on the southern, eastern and northeastern approaches to Mosul.
Capturing territory to the west of the city would leave Mosul entirely encircled and the jihadis no route for escape.

US Election 2016: What does 270 to win mean? How does the Electoral College work?

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton

The two presidential candidates are neck-and-neck in the  as the presidential race draws to a close.
Mrs Clinton’s double digit lead has evaporated after  relevant to an investigation into her use of a private email server.
In the final full week of the campaign, the candidates are set to target key battleground states in order to win all-important Electoral College votes.
What is the Electoral College?
The Electoral College is a body of electors who decide who will become the next US president.
There are 538 electors – one for each of the US’s 100 senators and 435 representatives, with an additional three electors for the District of Columbia.
What does 270 to win mean?
In order to become President of the US, either candidate must win a majority of the electoral college votes – at least 270.
The most recent Electoral College round-up from RealClear Politics tips Mrs Clinton to win 263 votes to Mr Trump’s 164 – with 111 as yet undecided.
Hillary Clinton
How does the electoral college work?
Rather than directly voting for candidates, citizens actually cast their ballots to choose an elector who in turn votes on behalf of the state.
Following the election, the Electors will meet on Monday December 19 to formally vote for the next President and Vice President.
In all but two states, the candidate who tops the popular vote is awarded all of the states electors.
In Nebraska and Maine the winner is given the first two electoral votes, with the rest allocated on a district by district basis.
Electors are not legally bound to vote for the candidate that they have pledged to back in 24 states, but it would be highly unorthodox for an elector to go against the popular vote.
Votes will be formally counted on January 6, 2017 with the result announced by the President of the Senate and the current Vice President Joe Biden.

Man United's Rooney still influential for England

Man United's Rooney still influential for England

Gareth Southgate has recently hinted Wayne Rooney still have a big part to play for England all the while he's in charge.

He's certainly suggested the Manchester United man will be selected shortly when he announces his squad for the World Cup qualifier with Scotland and the friendly with Spain, which are technically Southgate's final in caretaker charge of England.

Despite his lack of starts at club level, when fit, and being left out of the starting XI against Slovenia in the last qualifier Southgate's told the BBC he's still 'hugely influential' when it comes to England and his part to play:

'He's the England captain and, although he didn't start in Slovenia, to me he is a hugely influential figure in that group and that won't change. I thought his leadership qualities in the 10 days with us shone through. I could see how he's held in the eyes of the rest of the players and the positive influence he has in that environment.'

Asked on Rooney's involvement for the qualifier with Scotland on Friday 11th November then Spain friendly on Wednesday 15th November to follow he added:

'Let's see what that scenario is. I haven't spoken to him since the camp but I'm always conscious players are back into a run of fixtures with their clubs. I will pick up with him and the others later.'

Unless the 31-year-old suddenly finds himself in the Man United team under Jose Mourinho ahead of Southgate's (potentially final) squad selection many would argue against his squad involvement let alone starting chances...

I retain my thoughts he's got a part to play for England but if this is a starter I'm not so sure, in fact I know I'm not!

Former Barcelona and Man City wonderkid: Roberto Mancini ruined my career

Centre Forward: Gai Assulin

Gai Assulin says Roberto Mancini didn’t give him a chance at Manchester City which had an effect on his career.

The Sabadell winger signed to City from Barcelona in 2010, but failed to make any appearances for Mancini’s side with the manager not letting many of the club’s academy players to progress.

Assulin has revealed how the former Inter Milan boss didn’t give anyone a chance, despite him feeling good in training, with the manager signing his sons – Andrea and Filippo – who haven’t gone on to haven’t achieved a great deal in their footballing careers.

“The issues were very clear – it was the manager, Mancini. He didn’t give anyone a chance, he didn’t care about any young players, especially me. I didn’t even do the pre-season, when it was a good time to give someone a chance and see if they do well (or) if they are not doing well,” Assulin told ITV.

“But I didn’t get a chance, which was frustrating. It was a shame as I always felt good when I trained with the first team, but sometimes he chose his own sons over other players and I don’t think it was fair.

“It is very important for me to tell people as a lot of City (fans) don’t know what happened with me at City. People always ask me why I didn’t get a chance and it’s obvious that the manager was the problem.

“I loved playing there, I loved the city and I wish I had a chance there. (City execs) Brian Marwood and Garry Cook loved me and really wanted me to stay, but Mancini didn’t and that was the problem.”

Henry on working with Iwobi: “It’s almost like he doesn’t want to disturb anyone”

iwobi ozil Arsenal v PFC Ludogorets Razgrad - UEFA Champions League Group Stage - Group A

Thierry Henry believes that Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi has achieved something great by forcing his way into the Arsene Wenger’s senior team.
Iwobi is enduring a breakthrough season for The Gunners after emerging as a first team player in the latter stages of last campaign.
The Nigerian has repaid Wenger for the faith invested in him so far this season, and has contributed extensively to his side keeping tabs on fellow leaders Manchester City and Liverpool. Iwobi is yet to score for Arsenal this season but has claimed three assists in the league.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Henry said: “To make it into the Arsenal team from the youth team is very difficult. They’ve done a tremendous job with him in the academy for him to arrive there. I myself was there [the academy] for a little while and he listens, works hard, he’s never late. When you tell him to do something, he does it straight away.
“It’s almost like he doesn’t want to disturb anyone. But if you give him the ball he will do what you want him to do.”
The Nephew of former Bolton midfield technician Jay-Jay Okocha was deployed in a central role earlier in the season while Mesut Ozil gained match fitness.
Since the German made his return Iwobi has been utilised as a wide player however that hasn’t prevented him from drifting in from the flank and producing some of his best work, while becoming increasingly involved with Arsenal’s swift, incisive and devastating approach play.

Social Chatter: Olivier Giroud is world class, Sunderland are diabolical and shambolic

James Matthews looks at the different situations at either end of the Premier League following another horror show for Sunderland.

Arsenal, Wenger : "Mentalement, Giroud est absolument fantastique"

Sorry Sunderland are “diabolical” after setting a new Premier League low at the weekend.
David Moyes’ rock bottom side made it 10 games without a win at the start of the season after another horror show saw Sunderland slip to a 4-1 defeat.
It was partly down to heroics from Arsenal substitute Olivier Giroud and partly the red and whites self-imploding after getting back on level terms.
But the end outcome means Sunderland are now the worst ever Premier League team having collected just two points from the opening 30 available - worse than previously history-making Derby County.
And people couldn’t wait to stick the boot in - especially Alan Shearer, the man the Mackems love to hate.

JAMIE REDKNAPP: GIROUD PROVES HE IS ARSENAL SUPER-SUB WITH INCREDIBLE STAT

giroud

Jamie Redknapp has said that Olivier Giroud provides Arsene Wenger with the “perfect Plan B” and a stat shows he has scored more goals from the bench than any other striker in the Premier League since his debut.
Giroud made an immediate impact in the game against Sunderland on Saturday with the game delicately poised at 1-1, after Jermain Defoe had equalised against the run of play from the penalty spot.
The France international scored a brace with this first two touches of the game to push for a starting spot in Wenger’s side going forward.
However, according to a stat in the Daily Mail that accompanied Jamie Redknapp’s column, Giroud could be better off the bench
“9 – Goals Giroud has scored as a substitute in the Premier League since his debut in August 2012 – more than any other player in that time,” the Daily Mail says.
And Redknapp says that Giroud made the best of a perfect situation on Saturday.
“If you’re a striker, coming off the bench with your team drawing or narrowly losing is the perfect scenario,” Redknapp said.

“You can make sure all the headlines are about you by coming on to change the game.

Jan Vertonghen expects goal-shy Tottenham to thrive against Arsenal

tottenhamjanvertonghen3110.jpg

Jan Vertonghen expects Tottenham's attackers to thrive against Arsenal despite four games without a goal in open play.
Spurs remain undefeated in the league this season but since beating Manchester City 2-0 on October 2, they have managed only draws with West Brom, Bournemouth and Leicester.
Those results mean Spurs are three points behind City, Arsenal and Liverpool, who all have 23 points.
Before Sunday's derby at Emirates Stadium, Spurs take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League at Wembley on Wednesday, knowing a win will give them a strong position in the group.
After winning seven of their last eight matches in the Premier League, Arsenal will be confident of securing their first league win over Tottenham since Mauricio Pochettino took charge in May 2014.
But Vertonghen insisted: "Normally we do well against teams like that. It will be a very intense game, with both teams playing positive, attacking football.
"At the moment we are probably unlucky in every game we play. We were the better team against Leicester and we deserved to win, but we just can't win at the moment.
"The teams we have played, like West Brom and Leicester, play the same way. They sit and they wait for a mistake.
"We've had some chances in all these matches and we have been unlucky not to take them."
With Harry Kane absent since the 1-0 win over Sunderland on September 18, Tottenham's goal threat has diminished, with Dele Alli's equaliser in the 1-1 draw at West Brom on October 15 their last goal in open play.

Arsenal bring in more matchday revenue than any other European club, with the Emirates Stadium ranking ahead of Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu, Barcelona's Camp Nou and Manchester United's Old Trafford, based on a study from the 2014-15 campaign.
According to Deloitte (h/t Agence France-Presse via Yahoo Sports), the Gunners generated €132 million (roughly £116 million) that season, narrowly beating Los Blancos. The Bernabeu seats over 20,000 more fans than Arsenal's home ground, which fits just over 60,000.

Arsenal squad size key to overcoming a tough November

Hello fellow gooners! I will skip the Sunderland review, because other people already took care of it and I’ll jump to the excitement that I’ll see the Arsenal play live on Tuesday.
And this game is unlikely to be another 6:0. Ludogorets have lively players going forward, but if we get them on the break, their defence is leaky and we need the points. If we win this one, it goes down to the PSG game to see if we can top the group so I hope we take it.
What I like about the squad we have this season is the size of it. With Cazorla, Ramsey and Xhaka out, we still had Elneny and Coquelen in midfield, not the likes of Denilson and Song. We lost Walcott and the Ox delivered. Giroud came on and scored 2 with 2 touches. We’ve not had this in a long time…
Injuries can change a season. Kompany got injured last year and City’s start of 5 straight wins evaporated. This season they lost de Bruyne and Nolito and boom 5 games without a win. They come back and a 4:0 away win.
Can we manage the squad, so that we always have those impact subs? November is a really tough month. Spurs and United, Bournemouth are a decent side and Ludogorets won’t be a walk in the park in Bulgaria, but we come in a good position.
There are quite a few top teams to overcome this year. Liverpool made a spectacular change in their game style and look the real deal, Conte went 3 at the back and Chelsea haven’t conceded in the league since. Spurs are yet unbeaten, City need no comment and United despite being terrible, still have an amazing record against us and Mourinho always has Arsene’s number.
It’s a challenging month ahead, but let’s take it one game at a time and see where we get.

Ndidi: Algeria Should Be Scared Of Iheanacho, Iwobi, Ighalo, Musa

ndidi

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has declared that the team is not afraid of the intimidating credentials of the Fennecs of Algeria ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uyo on 12 November.
Ndidi has been included in the 24-man Nigeria squad for the key qualifier.
While speaking exclusively to Complete Sports from his Belgium base, the KRC Genk midfielder insists that Nigeria boast quality talents as much as the Algerians and that it will be down to attitude on the day when the game kicks off.
He said: "Much has been said about the fact that Algeria have Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani at Leicester City as well as Sofiane Feghouli in West Ham but Nigeria also have Alex Iwobi at Arsenal, Kelechi Iheanacho at Manchester City, Mikel Obi at Chelsea, Ahmed Musa at Leicester and Odion Ighalo at Watford. I think it is the Algerians who should have cause to be afraid of us, not the other way around."
Ndidi, who was saw 90 minutes action for his Belgian top-flight side in their 2-0 win over Westerlo on Saturday, also revealed that though little is known about the Fennecs he has played several times against their newly appointed manager Georges Leekens from the coach's time with Belgian Pro League side Lokeren.
"I knew the coach while he was at Lokeren. We beat his team 3-0 away in our game against them. Though I expect his Algerian team to be stronger than Lokeren were, I still think his formation and philosophy won't be different and I will be passing that on to the appropriate quarters," he said.
The former Flying Eagles defender also spoke about the return of Portugal-based Oghenekaro Etebo and Israel-based John Ogu to the national team, a development he describes as very heartwarming.
"I'm happy to see that Etebo as well as Ogu are coming back. Their qualities are undoubted and they will add to the depth of options available to the coaches. I've not been in camp with Ogu before but I was in the team that played Luxembourg with Etebo. He is very hardworking and funny. He livens up the camp with his jokes and I'm sure we'll have a nice time in camp," the former Nath Boys of Lagos player said.
Nigeria face old foes Algeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo on November 12. The Eagles lead the group with three points ahead of Algeria and Cameroon who are on one point each and Zambia who are pointless.

Tottenham Suffers Massive Injury Blow Ahead Of Arsenal Clash

harry-kane

The north London derby is upon us. After the game on Tuesday against Bulgarian side Ludogorets, we welcome to the Emirates the tinytotts. Tottenham are the only team left in the Premier league yet to taste defeat. For this reason our boys need no motivation to be up to their best in the derby this weekend.
The good thing is, we have the bulk of our injured players back. The only notable absentees remain Welbeck and Mertesacker. Tottenham however have couple of injury worries. Reports today claim Harry Kane could be back for their clash against Leverkusen in the Champions league while other reports claim Mauricio Pochettino could be without the services of Toby Alderweireld for the North London derby.
The big Belgian defender was injured in Tottenham’s game against West Brom two weeks ago. Initial reports had it that the injury was a minor one but if newer reports are to be believed, it is either the very versatile player has aggravated the injury or the initial diagnose was wrong.

That’s however not our business. The weaker Tottenham are ahead of the derby the better for us. After all, we have had to play several derby matches against those lots without our key players. I guess it is their turn. Based on their current form, we should beat them easily but if some of their key players also miss out, it become even better.
A win for either side this weekend will be a big morale booster ahead of the international break. A win for us will not only extend over lead over them to six points but also end their impossible ambition of an invincible season.

The Senate last Thursday directed the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to extend the validity of its results to a period of three years.

JAMB Is The Only Door To Admission – Ministry

The news was received with joy from candidates who consider it a stress going through the process of writing exams many times and more from parents who pay more. Not many looked at the negative side.

The question is, if this is implemented what are the possible implications? Below are some:
  1. More admission seekers
The most obvious implication is that even though the policy will reduce the number of candidates applying to write JAMB every year, it will increase the number of candidates seeking admission through UTME each year. This is not good considering that our tertiary institutions lack the capacity to accommodate the increasing number of admission seekers.
  1. Laziness
Having to write exam a year or the one that follows keeps young school leavers on their toes in terms of studying. However, the new policy will breed laziness in the students. A situation may arise that a student will write JAMB in 2017, score 250 but doesn’t get admitted. Such student, knowing fully well that he can use the result in 2018 and 2019 may decide not to study. This will surely reflect in his early years in the tertiary institution.
  1. More difficult JAMB
In case, it is logical to expect tougher exams and more strict marking scheme from JAMB. The exams will be difficult such that candidates will have no choice than to come back the following year.
  1. Unattractive courses
If the UTME result validity gets extended, many candidates with good UTME scores that fail to secure admission in a particular year will find it hard to consider programmes like diploma, IJMB, Pre-degree etc. since all they have to do is to wait another year and then re-apply for admission with their previous UTME result.
  1. Less revenue for JAMB
In a time when the country is in recession and government seem not been able to fund its parastatals, such policy may be harmful.

I have no Hand in Judges Saga – Buhari

I have no Hand in Judges Saga - Buhari

Amid accusation that the Presidency was behind the recent arrest of two Supreme Court Justices and five Judges of the Federal High Court, President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that he has no hand in their ordeals.
The President particularly asked the media and other Nigerians to stop linking him with the travails of the Judges whose houses were recently invaded by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) over allegations of corruption and abuse of office.
Some of the arrested judges had accused two of Buhari’s ministers of trying to influence them to give judgments favourable to the current administration by dropping the President’s name.
But in a statement issued last night by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, the President said he would be the last person to authorise anybody to induce a judge to pervert the course of justice.
Shehu declared that despite his personal familiarity with some court judges, Buhari had never exploited that to seek favours from them through 2003, 2007 and 2011 when he approached the courts to reverse his losses in those presidential elections.
He said: “As a politician, Buhari had never once ever suggested to his lawyers to approach any judge for assistance to win his cases. The President lives by this principle and has never deviated from it.
“The President doesn’t tell courts how to do their jobs and that anybody accused of corruption is protected by law to defend his/her innocence”, the statement stressed.
Shehu pointed out that the purpose of the law is to punish the guilty and acquit the innocent, and that the law projects the rights everyone.
He added that the President doesn’t have any powers to force any court to convict anybody who is innocent, noting that Nigerians would resist such a move in a democratic society.

APC CRISIS | Oshiomhole fingered as next Party Chairman, Oyegun girds loins for Battle

APC CRISIS | Oshiomhole fingered as next Party Chairman, Oyegun girds loins for Battle

As the lingering internal crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) threatens to splinter the party, the top hierarchy of the party has decided to sacrifice its national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
This tactical move to ease out the APC’s National Chairman is seen as an interim measure to stabilize the ruling party and save it from imploding.
Impeccable sources that the outgoing Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, whose second-term as governor ends on the 12th November, 2016, has been penciled down to replace embattled Oyegun as the party’s national chairman.
To firm up this ‘coup’ against Oyegun, which has the presidency’s backing,  President Muhammadu Buhari has agreed to a “face saving”
ambassadorial position for the out-of-favour Oyegun.
Party Sources confirmed that, “there is no going back on the decision”. Rightly or wrongly, Oyegun who guided the APC to victory over the PDP has been accused of “killing” the party.
The choice of Comrade Oshiomhole stems from the fact that, like Oyegun, he is from the South-South geo-political zone – with the clincher that he has a solid labour background.
By a convenient coincidence for the APC, Oshiomhole’s tenure as governor will be ending in a matter of weeks.
Several party sources with knowledge about this development sounded out hope that Oshiomhole will be able to build the APC into a formidable “populist” party, a “ party in every sense of the word.”
As a specific diversionary tactic and to create the condition necessary for the scripted scenario to play out, Oyegun is expected to ‘resign’ – a quirky, cloned template of PDP succession intrigues then.
It will be recalled that following the recent APC governorship primary election in Ondo State that produced a candidate who is not Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu’s choice, Tinubu openly called for Oyegun’s resignation, a position Oyegun dismissed out of hand.
According to a miffed Oyegun, “Yes, I agree that the nature of the statement was a bit harsh. The methods of getting rid of a national chairman, if that is what I will call it, are spelt out in the constitution; they don’t take place on the pages of newspapers.”
Although Tinubu and Oyegun shook hands and exchanged pleasantries during Buhari’s recent book launch in Abuja, their relationship appeared to have been irreparably damaged.
Apparently tipping the scale against Oyegun, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar recently expressed a public position which apparently backed Tinubu.
The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Timi Frank, also recently accused Oyegun of mismanaging the party, alleging that a lot of things have gone wrong in the APC because of Oyegun’s leadership style.
Frank, who described Oyegun as a political liability, said what APC needs is a leader who will add political value to the party. He also slammed Oyegun, saying he does not understand the constitution of the APC.
According to Frank, “This is the reason why I will continue to fight to ensure that the APC takes Nigeria to the right place but as long as Odigie-Oyegun remains as national chairman, we cannot achieve anything. Now that I am calling for his resignation, some may think it is personal, but it is not.
“We need a national chairman that will add political value to our party, we need a national chairman that can lead the party to victory during elections and we do not need a national chairman who will clearly be a political liability to this party as we head towards elections.
“We need a national chairman that will understand and follow due process in carrying out functions within the party. We need a chairman who understands the constitution in words and in deed.”
But cogent posers are already emerging that could affect the smoothness of this dodgy succession plot. The key question here is – would Oyegun who has the reputation of a plucky fighter agree to resign?
Already, the ruling party has unforeseen challenges replacing its national publicity secretary Lai Mohammed, replacing him with former sports minister under President Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahai. The move was aborted by forces opposed to the emerging strangle-hold of Senate President Bukola Saraki on the party. Bolaji Abdulahi is a protégé of Saraki.
From what is apparently playing out, the APC is threading the now opposition PDP’s path. It will be recalled that Chief Solomon Lar, who guided the party to victory, was similarly replaced by Chief Barnabas Gemade.
Many have not forgotten that the PDP has not recovered from that ugly beginning.
Oyegun is ready for a vicious battle against Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, who is presently working as an “Executive Assistant” to the controversial and powerful Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Alhaji Abba Kyari .
Kingibe was running mate to Chief MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12presidential election.
He is widely perceived to have been one of the key insider forces that aided the trade-off of Abiola’s acclaimed and historic Muslim-Muslim ticket victory.
Kingibe is campaigning for the position of Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations.
For Odigie-Oyegun to leave office, the APC NWC must bow to the demands of several party stakeholders and groups to organise an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting or a mini convention, where all the permutations on the enthronement of Oshiomhole and Abdulahi as well as other vacant NWC positions may be ratified.
For example, some non-NWC members of the NEC had last week issued a two-week ultimatum to the Odigie-Oyegun led NWC to convene an emergency NEC meeting to discuss the many issues rocking the unity of the APC.
The group in a communique issued at the end of its meeting in Abuja and signed by Hon. Omolaoye O. Akintola, National Ex-Officio, South West and Coordinator, noted, with regret, the inability of the NWC under Odigie-Oyegun to convene the quarterly NEC meeting as contained in the party’s constitution.

The APC constitution states clearly that only the NEC or party convention can ratify the choice of any national officer.
