Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, is currently in a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Governor Mimiko arrived the president’s office at about past 11am.The governor’s visit may be connected with Thursday’s declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of Jimoh Ibrahim as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.
INEC had removed the name of Eyitayo Jegede, who is purportedly the preferred choice of Mr. Mimiko, from the list of the candidates of the political parties that would participate in the upcoming guber polls, and replaced it with Jimoh Ibrahim’s.
The move has resulted in protests by aggrieved PDP members in the state, who have taken to the streets of Akure, the state capital, to condemn the electoral body’s decision.
