Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hailed the returning Aaron Ramsey as like Chelsea legend Frank Lampard after the midfielder made his return to action for the Gunners.
Ramsey made his first Premier League appearance since the opening game of the season this weekend as he played the final 14 minutes of his side’s 4-1 win at Sunderland.
The Welshman has struggled for fitness since an injury sustained against Liverpool in August but Wenger is delighted to have the 25-year-old available for selection again after over two months of absence.
And Wenger has said he can see similarities in Ramsey’s games to Chelsea’s iconic midfielder Frank Lampard, who scored 147 Premier League goals during a 13 year spell with the Blues.
Wenger said, according to the Daily Star: “He drives and pushes the team forward and that is exactly what we want in our side.
“He is Lampard-ish you know. He likes to get in the box and shoot from distance. They have similar qualities.”
Arsenal are set to take their time integrating Ramsey back into regular first team football, although the No.8 will be hoping to feature in the Champions League against Ludogorets this week.
